April Showers Bring May Events & Beyond!

April was a roller coaster of weather! Once week I'm bundled up in a hoodie and jacket, then I'm bringing out the sunscreen! But no matter the weather, when I'm with the animals, it's a beautiful day!

I kicked off this month with Rover All Over. I went to Providence Animal Center (PAC) in Media to take a dog out of the center for a few hours. I was able to do this two days in a row which was great news for 7-year-old Missy who you may have seen in my last blog post! I brought Missy to my house where she could run around the backyard and enjoy a quiet snooze on the couch; a much-needed break from the high stimulation of any animal shelter. Missy is still available to foster or adopt from PAC!

While I prepared a presentation for a group of cruise ship enthusiasts (more on that next time) about tips on boarding their dog, I took a break for a CPR class that can be completed in one-hour, online.

I encourage all animal lovers (pet parents, pet service professionals) to learn as much as you can to be prepared for an emergency. This class is offered by RECOVER, and you can do it on your own schedule so why not! When you know that you're prepared for the worst, it's easier to enjoy the best!

As a small business owner in Delaware County, I am always looking to meet other business owners, and DelCo Meets 4 Business is the place for that! This free networking event takes place twice weekly on the 1st to 4th Tuesday and Thursday of the month. I join on Thursdays at Brickhaus in Ridley Park. You can meet some of the businesses by listening to the What's Happening Delco podcast wherever podcasts are available.

This group has inspired me to collaborate with local businesses to bring pet parents together! Through the year, I will be offering events for pet parents (past, current, and prospective clients) to build community while supporting local business!

I am kicking off these events with my 5 year anniversary celebration at Pet Friendly Bakery in Manayunk THIS SATURDAY, May 3 from 12-1pm. I'm excited for some of my clients to meet each other and hopefully the dogs will leave happy and tired with a treat or new merch from Pet Friendly Bakery. There is still room to join the fun so let me know if I will see you there!

On Friday, May 30, come to my home in Glenolden for Yoga in the Yard, led by Colleen Williams of Paws and Poses.

Colleen is an accomplished Clinical Massage Therapist, graduating from the Soma Institute in 2011, as well as a certified RYT 200 Yoga Instructor. With over a decade of experience Colleen specializes in neuromuscular therapy, blending deep tissue techniques with mindful movement practices to enhance body awareness and promote holistic healing.

This will be a pet parents only event, leave the pets at home so you can focus on you!

The one-hour yoga session will begin at 6pm and is only $20!!

Bring your yoga mat and a water bottle, and be prepared to leave with new friends, maybe even get dinner together afterwards! To register, please email me, thisjes@gmail.com

*cash is preferred or you can venmo Colleen @colleen-w-57 the day of the event.

I have ANOTHER date to mark on your calendar: Friday, June 20, 6-7pm.

I'm also brewing an idea for a virtual activity for parents and their pets so stay tuned for that! If you have an idea for a pet parent event, with or without the pets, please send your suggestions my way!! I'm new to the area and still getting to know everything that it has to offer.

It has been an amazing 5 years of learning and growing! Not only do I learn from resources like Dogsafe Canine First Aid, but every dog I meet has a unique personality that deserves unique attention! I am so proud to be a business owner in Delaware County, and I know there are so many pets I have yet to meet! If you know anyone who needs help giving their pet the best life, please send them my website shewalkswithdogs.com

BOOP your pet for me,

Jes
