WFH Parents Need Pet Care Pros, too!

if you are a pet parent who works from home (WFH), you might think you don't need a pet care professional. i say this with love: you're wrong.

pet care pros, like me, are a valuable caregiver who isn't just there for those midday walks, but they get to know your pet's quirks and charm in order to provide the best experiences!

three scenarios call for a pet care pro to keep your pet's daily routine from hitting a bump! *not all scenarios apply to all pets. i have included some common and some far-out scenarios that could apply to fearful as well as confident pets.

REPAIRS & CLEANING

when you invite contractors into the house for repairs, upgrades, and cleaning, it could be safest for your dog or cat to be out of the house.

this option keeps them from getting into hazardous materials which can lead to a mess where you just made it sparkle, or it can lead to a hospital visit after they've ingested something.

the crate might seem like the solution, but moving your dog or cat out of the house ensures that they don't inhale harmful chemicals like paint thinners or ammonia.

maybe keeping them in a separate room is the go-to when you have strangers in the house for everyone's safety.

however, when you have a pet pro, your dog or cat still gets to enjoy a comfy sofa or that sunny window ledge at their second home!

HOSTING

whether your pet is large or small, they might add a pinch of chaos in the kitchen while you're trying to master your mother-in-law's pecan pie recipe before hosting thanksgiving for the first time.

maybe they get under everyone's feet in a crowded dining room. there's the chance of guests giving your pet "human food" that doesn't sit well in their stomach. this can also happen when your pet sees unattended plates of food around the house.

some pets are gentle giants, but some kids don't know how to act around animals. they might be afraid of dogs or cats no matter the size. while other kids might be too bold around pets, aggressively pulling their tail or patting too hard.

toddlers at holiday get-togethers are not the only kids to think about. consider when your teenagers want to have a few friends over for a pool day. if guests are coming in and out of the house or the yard, an open door (or gate) can mean your pet wanders out of the house. best case scenario, they just want to see what the kids are up to and stay close to the fun. some pets can see this as an opportunity to go for a solo expedition away from home.

you might think, i'll just keep the pet in a separate room while the family is socializing. similar to how strangers don't want to hear "please don't pet my dog," a closed door doesn't mean guests will respect your pet's space.

just as you want to enjoy the socialization, your pet can enjoy relaxing or playing at maximum capacity when they stay with their pet care pro!

UNEXPECTED SITUATIONS

while the previous two scenarios focus on relocating your pet, this one is about keeping your pet at home and barely noticing a bump in their routine.

one factor that often keeps WFH pet parents away from their loved one: travel!

especially when pet parents fly, i ask for returning flight numbers and cushion a couple of hours for delays. if the traffic isn't in the sky, it might hit on the road due to rush hour, construction, or collisions. so if you thought you'd be home in time to have dinner with your pet, make sure your pet care pro is available just in case!! having that backup plan means you don't have to rush (which is probably how that collision happened).

on occasion, clients have last-minute requests due to a death in the family or due to their own health conditions taking them away from home for a night or two.

(best case scenario, we're talking about someone going to the hospital to give birth!)

these are unscheduled emotional times. having a pet care pro on speed dials means you can focus on your mental and physical health. come back to your pet when you're ready, knowing that your loved one is being taken care of by someone you both trust!

have i convinced you to have a pet care pro for your loved one?!
